    Bore light

Want to purchase a quality bore light when visiting gun shows and looking at possible purchases. Picked up a Hoppes brand at Dicks sporting goods store and it lasted all of two hours and the on/off switch broke. Will return, but do not want a replacement of the Hoppes brand bore light. Any recommendations/suggestions would be appreciated.

Looks like I got a lot of "views", but no recommendations. Know the topic is not a big deal, so went ahead and purchased oline a Browning Microblast penlight w/2 bore adapters. Should receive in a few days. Anyone have any experience with this product ? Had some good reviews, but always feel better when getting input from guys on the forum.

the top one is just a simple gun show slip on that goes on your little brinkman or mini mag light.
    the bottom is a $5 laser/bore light.

I got one of those crappy Hoppe's lights from Midway. Mine lasted less than 5 clicks of the switch before it broke.

I've got one of the ones with the flexible head as shown above. I got it at a bargin tool plce for $2.50 probably 5 yrs ago. I use it constantly and it's still going stong. The rubber over the switch did finally tear, but it still works.

I used a 5 buck gunshow special for 20 years before it quit working. I ordered the Hoppe's expecting it to be decent...Wrong. The guts of it are a cardboard tube wrapped in aluminum coated paper that is thinner than a Juicy Fruit wrapper.

I've had this little bore lite for a couple of years and it works very well. It's much brighter than what the photo shows. The camera flash washed out the brightness. You just push on the bulb to turn it on. It was a little over priced ($10 - the guy saw me coming) but I would buy a lifetime supply if I could. It's a sealed unit and the battery is not replaceable.

Wish to thank ralph7, ColtSnakes, broknaxl, kenhwind, Mac and james47 for posting up on my bore light inquiry. It is appreciated. The Hoppes light as described by ColtSnakes is dead on. They need to re-evaluate the design of this product if it is going to carry their brand name. The quality is something you would expect in a cereal box. I always felt comfortable with Hoppes products, but this particular item throws up some red flags. Thanks again guys for all your posts. Perhaps I was making to much out of looking for a bore light. You put it all in perspective. Will let you know how the the Browning Microblast penlight works out when it arrives.
