    Post 1911 colt gov.ss .45 series 70 feed problem.

Gun shoots nice groups. I get off a few good shots then a round does not feed and the action stays open, partialy open. Some of the time I can push the slide to feed the round and close the action. There are other times I must drop the mag to free the jam causing the round that did not feed to fall to the ground. I am using new 230gr. federal ammo and two colt mags and two aftermarket mags. Most of the brass that is ejected has sort of a crimped area near open end of spent shell thats about one quarter of a inch. I am open to any ideas as to the cause of my problem! One more thing, the gun is always cleaned well and lightly oiled!

I'm having the exact same problem with mine. Mine also is a 1911 colt gov.ss .45 series 70. I love this model by the way an it is my second to own. I have found that are way too many experts and yes some are crazy as I'm sure you are finding out. I took my to a gunsmith in Savanah Ga. Saturday. He has a solid rep. for his work on 1911's. And I believe he charges a fair price. He is going to throat the barrel where the bullet feed in. There may be a more technical term for this fix as I'm sure someone will let me know. He believes this will fix the problem. And with a trigger job to take out some of the creep I'm looking at 125.00.
