Good luck in finding a high rib early Phton barrel. By "separation," do you mean the forcing cone is cracked?
I've got a 1957 Python w/ 6" barrel. Unfortunately the forcing cone has developed a separation. The LGS said it would need to be rebarreled although they said finding a replacement 6" barrel might be difficult. I called Colt and they said that they no longer do this type of repair, nor do they have replacement parts/barrel. I''d like to get it repaired/rebarreled but don't know who specializes in this type of repair and what I should expect to pay. Has anyone been thru this before and can recommend a repair shop, or is this destined to become an expensive wall ornament. Thanks, Rob

I think you need to dispose of the gun ASAP.........................I'll send you my shipping address so that you can clean your hands of it.
Seriously, I have seen barrels for sale on this site and Gunbroker.com
I have never seen an early high rib Python barrel for sale anywhere. I suspect the barrels mentioned were low rib barrels.
See this thread below for a possible solution:

Yes, the forcing cone has a crack about .25" running parralell to the barrel.
How do I know if the barrel is a high or low rib? I've heard about barrels being drilled out and re-lined before, but don't know if this is feasible with a .357 mag. I was told that different year Pythons have different barrel thread pitches, and finding the correct barrel can be very difficult. If the forcing cone can be repaired as described above I'd really like to find someone who can repair it, as the rest of the revolver is in fairly decent condition.
