    Gold Cup Rear SIght PROBLEM

Is there a sure fix for the Gold Cup rear sight?

    The pin keeps drifting out...

I am looking to take care of it once and for all.

    WHat do You think?

    Options:

Buy a section of drill rod. This won't break.
To retain it in the slide or frame, you can put a slight bend in the pin, OR you can use a small hammer to very slightly flatten and spread the ends. The expanded ends prevent it from coming out.

You can use a section of Allen wrench. This is very strong, and the shape tends to keep it in place.

DON'T take advice to use Loctite. That has a bad tendency to migrate into the sight and glue things up.

When a solid pin won't stay you replace it with a split pin, not chunks of hex wrench or drill rod although the bend idea wasn't bad.

I've heard a spot of super glue or clear fingernail polish will do the trick.

Colt used the split pins on many pistols and revolvers. They stopped using them on the 1911 autos because they broke too often, and went to solid pins, which tend to still break or work their way out.

Split pins is a step backward.
