They insure that all parts are factory specification, and if they find something non-Colt or altered, it's replaced.
The trigger pull is gauged to make sure it's within factory specs for minimum and maximum pull, single action and double.
Head space, cylinder end shake, barrel/cylinder gap, chamber/bore alignment, and timing are gauged and checked.
All other functions are checked to insure they're all to factory specs.
I'm not sure what distance Colt targets guns these days.
