    non-Colt out of time?

I hope it is ok to ask, This has puzzled me for 30-something years, or whenever I discovered it. I have a Uberti .357 and the thing will lock the hammer before the cylinder is locked. It only will do this if the gun is cocked very slowly. What is it's problem? assuming this is something common to SSA's.

Its got spaghetti hung in the bolt. just kiddin. that wasn't very nice of me... couldn't resist. I happen to have a long barrel SAA Uberti .357 myself, so I can pick on me too. I will take a close look/listen to mine and see if it does anything like that. I'm hoping an experienced SAA person will get you an answer so we both can learn. The good thing about the Uberti's is its alot less money to have a gun to take apart and learn about it.

Sounds like something is going on inside. When is the last time you completely tore it down & cleaned it?

I checked my uberti .357 SAA very carefully and many times, cocking the hammer slowly and observing. The cylinder and the hammer reach firing position at the exact same moment every time , no matter how slow I cock the hammer. As soon as the right people read your post they can probably tell you what is going on and what to do. Meanwhile, we can be looking for the correct sized screwdrivers.

Thanks to all for responding. I wasn't sure if discussing non-Colts was alright or looked upon as a noob move and uncool and subject to deletion. As to the gun, around six years ago, I replaced a bolt spring, if that is the term. I remember getting sent a coil type spring instead of flat. and a hand spring. My memory is a little fuzzy and this was my first look in a SSA and I am a still a real noob with revolver workings. The gun is clean inside. If I cock it normally, or even very quickly, it will always lock in the right time and consistently, it is only going very slow, that it will always be very not right.

Well I am tumbling the pieces right now to get rid of the spray finish. The media was added to with machine screws and steel BB's. I gotta learn how to reassemble after some kind of finish is put on and I figure if the parts are ok. The one thing about this gun is with no finish at all, the gun does not rust, Love this metal whatever it is.

Well it is all put together and done. I thought it was done yesterday but it was somehow not right, today. I will need to go in sometime with new parts. The hammer has a problem with the half cock notch. I got it working with my deadly weapon------the Dremel.

No one likes the fake Colt? I got it locking up quite a bit tighter and new springs. I was made in 1960. No safety system.
