Hey Gents,
I have two new Colt hammer shrouds that have sitting around for 25 or so years and they seem to be of differing type in the style of the rampant Colt, position one facing rearward, another one in the upright "Hi Yo Silver" position. Can anyone identify the approximate vintage of each respective shroud? I got my kid to do the photoshop thing so hopefully the photos will help-besides everyone likes pictures, except when it comes to beautiful women, there's just no substitute...

I just bought a 6" stainless King Cobra in about 99% condition with box and manual for $700 (just a faint turn line). I didn't steal it, I've seen others in that price range. My question is, why? It seems to be the only snake thats still affordable. I know the blue are worth more and also those with a shorter barrel. Any opinions as to if and when the 6" stainless King Cobra will start increasing in collectabilty.

Good afternoon to all...I have an opportunity to buy a couple of Colts. I have not seen them yet. First, an 8" Anaconda 44 mag., stainless. Gun has replacement grips though he says he has original ones. No box, etc. Like many of us here, I have been trying to buy more Colts of late. I assume since this has no accessories that there is little to no collector value. I am told condition is good to very good (subjective). He is asking $1200 which I feel is too much. Second gun is, as he describes it, a 1985 satin nickel MK IV/series 80 Officer's ACP in 45. It also is sans the box, etc. I have a few Colt 45's including a 1991 A1 compact which I guess is rather similar. Seller has not stated a selling price on the Officer' model. I would appreciate any comments on the Officer's model. I feel the Anaconda may be worth $800 or so and the Officer's model in the $600 range. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks...

The snubby collection is expanding. I swore I was not getting any more Colts. :bang_wall:

Below are pictures of a 1942 Colt Commando. All markings are consistant with a early Commando that was factory re-barreled toward the the end of WWII per Charles Pate. The revolver is in decent condition and most of the parkerizing is still there.

It is an interesting WWII revolver.

I collect Boston Police guns, both Colt and Smiths (also they had glocks and rugers) I just got two new Police Positives, a 1st series and a 2nd series. All the guns are marked B-P-D and letter to Boston Police.

The question I have is on the new 2nd Series one, it looks too nice and on the right side of the frame the blue seems to be deeper than on the left side. I wonder if it had been touched up or redone? I hope you can see from the pictures, to me it appears to be too thick a finish on the right side. The pictures are further down after my bragging shots

I have done some preliminary research in Flayderman's and I believe this is a 1849 Pocket Pistol? The finish is mostly worn and the screws are boogered. The hammer spring and likely the cylinder stop spring need replacing. But the grips are in good condition and all the serial numbers match - 1418xx. I would like to confirm the ID and understand what the value might be in this condition. Thank you.

I was hanging around my local gun shop today when a customer walked in and asked to see the stainless steel Single Action Army in the showcase. My...

I was hanging around my local gun shop today when a customer walked in and asked to see the stainless steel Single Action Army in the showcase. My ears perked up because I had never heard of a SAA in stainless. Well, the clerk pulled out a nickel SAA, 7 1/2 inch barrel, .45 Colt with black plastic grips. And I said, that's a nickel finish. And the customer said "What about the SS in the serial number?" Huh?
Okay, I looked at the gun and the serial number is odd. It is SA05349SS. And it appears to be hand cut or stamped. And instead of it being straight across the frame just ahead of the trigger guard, the number is stamped in an arc around the bend of the frame in the front. (Sorry could not get a photo.)
The serial number would seem to indicate that the gun was made around 1978. But what is the "SS" suffix? I looked through Don Wilkerson's book on the third gen guns and could not find anything remotely resembling this. The gun has all the correct markings and I am sure that it really is a Colt. Unfortunately, there is no original box for the gun, so I don't have any label information.
I have a feeling I've seen this type of serial number before, but can't remember where or when.
Any suggestions?

I just completed my 1860 Army collection by adding the 2nd Gen yesterday. So top left in the pic is my martially marked, notched, all matching Army made in 1862. Right is a civillain all matching 1868. Both have 90% cylinder scenes. The second gen is next and a signature is at bottom. Interestingly enough, the 2nd and 3rd gens are exactly 9000 apart on the serials.

Navies next? What would you collect?
Colter 1860

I am going to own a DS in the real near future. I want this gun for CC. I want to get one that is in really really nice shape. I want to put the holster wear on it. In time it will be my son or grand kids. Which finish holds up the best if there carried and maintained with a oil rag and regular cleanings to prevent rust??? Second.. Which finish retains there value the best...

Hey guys. This is kinda related to the "CCI/Speer ruined my Anaconda cylinder" thread, but with another issue. CCI has offered to buy me a replacement Anaconda cylinder and have it sent to my house to install. If I can't, don't want to, or have any problems then I can send it on to Colt and CCI will pay them. My question is, if I install this replacement cylinder(that comes with another crane too) will I have to adjust anything? I can install with or without the new crane.
