Question regarding the Bianchi 9R Upsidedown shoulder holster

Can anyone tell me if a Colt Detective Special will fit in a model 9R1?

If not, did Bianchi ever produce a variant of the 9R that would accomodate a DS?

9R1 is a model designation- that holster was made for a number of different revolvers. Most of the Bianchi holsters were marked with the size information.Regards, turnerriver

I've been looking for a right hand upsidedown butt to the rear shoulder holster for the SA for over 25 yrs.A little over 40 yrs ago Thell Reed gave me one & I wore it when I was hunting, riding my horse,on my motorcycle & concealed, the trigger strap hanger broke so I took it to Ernie Hill to fix then he moved his shop & in the process lost the old keepsake, still looking.

I have a n early one that fits all my D frame Colts and S&W J frames. Will check to see if there is a model number. This is the holster that Ian Fleming incorrectly names as a holster for a ppk, just as an aside. Bianchi made these for 2 -2 1/2 inchers . The 9r that fits a 2 1/2 incher K frame, also fits the Colt lawman and 2 1/2 inch Diamondback They are actually pretty low profile and comfortable,as well as fast. Clint used one with a S&W 66 in the Gauntlet

I checked some of my old Bianchi catalogs and they simply list the 9R for various revolvers. No other size info is supplied.

That's my findings as well. My Bianchi 9R fits D frame and J frame snubbys equally well.

pulled mine out. It is an early one w/o the belt slots, it is marked Colt Cobra ,S&W J frame. With an alloy Colt, you hardly know it is there. I much prefer it to ones with elastic ,or thumbstraps. A classic

My 9R fits a 2" K frame. My Det Special fits just fine. My "J" frames have some wiggle, but its still secure. I wear mine in the winter under a sweat shirt.
