Ebay to Prohibit Listing Firearm Related Items

See the July 30, 2007 announcement here:

http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200707....07-07-30094109

If they actually do this I will cancel my account.

Some of the items were used in VA Tech shootings? So what. I'm sure some their computer items have been used by hackers for less than legal actions. I'm sure some of the cars or car parts that have been sold on ebay have been used in fatal car accidents. How many of the items being sold on ebay were stolen from people and resold on the internet to turn a quick profit for the criminal?

Re: Ebay to Prohibit Listing Firearm Related Items

I just looked through all my saved searches on ebay. Every one of them is firearms related. I guess I no longer have any use for ebay. Now if only Gunbroker would start a PayPal type payment service for their auctions I could be done with PayPal too.

Hi Weagle99,

Ebay's policies just about duplicate exactly what Kalifornia citizens have to endure on a daily basis for their Government... Since ebay is based in CA they are held to CA laws by the Department of Justice... I see why they have to comply... all those restrictions on toy guns, knives and accys, etc, are codified CA state law... Those old cast iron practice hand grenades we played with as kids are considered a felony for possession in CA!! Its a $10,000 fine to sell one of those Mattel Fanner Fifty SAAs we had as kids (no orange plug) ... For what its worth! Bob

I don't believe the new policy is to comply with any laws in CA or anywhere else. It's just a reflection of ebay and PayPal's anti-gun politics. In what state is it illegal to sell spent casings?

Mark Halprin quote: "As you may know, eBay does not allow the listing of any items which are regulated by individual states or the federal government..."

Automobiles are not regulated by Feds or state? Seems to me that federal regulations and state licensing apply to them.

Oh, I get it ~ any regulated item that eBay doesn't like is hereby prohibited? Wankers!!

Pathetic...
Who's the idiot that sold-off New-Amsterdam? I could have been reading this board in Dutch!

If guns are the cause of gunviolence, pens are responsible for writingerrors.
