    Gun Magazine Subscription Question

Curious as to what magazine subscriptions are deemed worthy reads for the gun enthusiast. I currently receive American Rifleman (NRA of course), Gun Digest (seems to have declined somewhat in content), Guns & Ammo and Gun Tests. Opinions on reduction of these or additions? I'd really like a well done magazine on Revolver/Handguns that doesn't waste a lot of print on editorializing but rather honest, professional insight into past manufactured weapons and current or proposed weapons.
This forum has offered the most knowledgeable opinions on reference material and I think would have good insight into options on this topic.

As always I thank you for your input

If I'm not mistaken a number of gun magazines now are free to read on the net.
Many of the top mags are owned by the same company, and they may have decided that increased advertising might make more money then paper subscriptions.

I haven't had time to look into the free reading part. Take a look:

    Digital Editions | American Handgunner

    Handguns

    Guns Magazine

    Shooting Times

    Guns & Ammo

While not slanted towards handguns in particular, Handloader and Rifle magazines have some of the best articles. American Handgunner is nice, but it's generally low density with lots of pretty pictures and lightweight writing. The Ayoob Files articles in American Hnadgunner on shooting incidents are very worthwhile, but again not necessarily about handguns per se.

Agreed, Handloader and Rifle are always interesting and informative - to me anyway. AH and Guns are okay. I've stopped subscribing to the others.

I get American Rifleman (naturally), American Handgunner, and Concealed Carry magazine.

    I only get American Rifleman.
I got tired of all the other magazines years ago.

At my age I need good "sittin" reading material and there are only so many magazine filled paper grocery bagged and duct taped "backstops" for some leisure target practice I need to make. Thinking Gun Digest is headed out and Gun Tests too as I don't care if they compare a Kel Tec .22magnum and a Sharps .50 for accuracy at 20 paces with a NW wind of 12 knots and a temp of 2 degrees C.

    Appreciate the input.

"Guns Digest" has really declined in the last several years. None of the monthly periodicals are worth bothering with anymore. Just the same old stuff rehashed again and again. Take the money you would spend on magazines and get some serious firearms reference works. JMHO.

My favorite gun magazine from a collectors standpoint is Man at Arms. Minimal ads, and even the articles about things that don't interest me are a good read.
