I'm in the Camp where I have lettered all my colts...New and Old. Even if it doesn't pay off today, it will someday.
Hello, Fellow Colt Fans,
Just wondering if any of you have ever applied for Colt's Archive Letter of authentication. I've read up on this matter at Colt's Mfg. website and I'm a bit intrigued. I've owned an Officers ACP for some 20 years now and just wonder if the $100.00 investment is really worth it. Colt makes no promises, but states that an Archive Letter often enhances the sale or heirloom value of the weapon. Comment? Thanx!

Thanx, Kid.
Right now I'm leaning toward the Archive Letter myself. I've had this weapon all this time & I plan to never part with it. Thought it might be a nice hand-me-down someday & the letter can only enhance its intrinsic value. By the way, what are your thoughts on including pix of weapons on the Forum with the serial numbers visible? I'd like to share my little gem with fellow Colt lovers, but I've always had this nagging suspicion of the Feds snooping where they don't belong. Your thoughts? Thanx!

A subject that has been discussed quite a lot actually. Not everyone gets them for all their guns. Some get them for special reasons, others have ignored them altogether. I have quite a few and feel they enhance the collecting nature of the hobby. Wish I were like Kid and had them on all my Colt's.

Personally, I only letter those that are over 50 years old. As far as posting serial numbers, I wouldn't worry about it as long as you have the original documentation that you actually purchased the gun.
