The Scout is a 7/8's scale of the SAA.

The grips for the SAA will be significantly larger then the Scout grip frame.
Also, you may have problems with the location of the grip screw and the holes for the locating pin.

If that all can be worked out, you could possibly cut the SAA grips down enough to fit.

This is the same situation as the "I have this kind of gun, but want that kind. Can I make this into that?" The usual recommendation is to sell what you have and buy what you want. There is a lot less opportunity for disaster. JMO

Actually, the grip panels for the Frontier Scout and Single Action Army are the same size. There are some differences where the grips meet the frame at the top, but the SAA grip is larger there and you should be to cut down the SAA grip to fit. (If I were you I would practice on a cheap pair of wood grips before modifying the stag grips.)

The Frontier Scout is about 7/8 the size of the SAA except for the grip frame which is the same size on both revolvers. You might run into a problem with the location of the grip screw hole because the arrangement of the main spring is quite different in the two revolvers.

What I want to figure out how to do is to fit one-piece grips to a Frontier Scout. I met a fellow at the CCA show in October who has done this and I spoke to him quite a lot about it. His name was Donald Kay and he was able to cut the grip frame of the Frontier Scout into two pieces and drill holes so they could be screwed back together. He said it was a lot of work and that he didn't plan to do it again. He had two engraved .22 caliber single actions (a Frontier Scout and a Peacemaker .22) that were done this way and fitted with ivory grips. They really looked great!

Here is a photo of a Frontier Scout grip and a Single Action Army grip. The SAA grip is on the left and the Scout grip is on the right. The main difference is the SAA grip is flat across the top and the Scout grip has a squared off notch at the top. The reason for this is the Scout has a one piece grip frame and the "grip frame" on the SAA consists of two parts, the backstrap and the trigger guard, that are screwed together. The Scout grip frame was engineered from the beginning to be the same through out production, so all grip types would fit without hand work. The SAA grip frame is famous for requiring the individual fitting of grips to each gun. - - -Buckspen
