This is the same company that on Gunbroker was selling a square butt 1950 PPS with a 2" post 1963 Detective Special barrel (with the expected wrong markings for a 1950 gun), ill fitting checkered walnut square butt stocks that overhung the frame on all sides by 1/8" (also very wrong for the era, it would have come with Coltwoods), in a mismatched DS box for a starting price of $1450 with the proviso that the if the impending letter verified it as a "very rare post war square butt DS" the buyer would be getting a deal. They were telling a potential buyer they were on their own as they would not extend an inspection period for returns. The phrase they used was "risk potential/risk reward" What a load of crap!
I wrote them a polite very long email explaining point by point why the gun was assuredly a rebarreled PPS. At first they were hostile but after the 2nd email they were more polite. Basically, I reminded them that just because they were in the gun selling business they don't know everything and it would be stupid of them to discount the members of a Colt collecting website (not just me, we had a thread about this gun) as a bunch of guys that knew nothing about Colts. In reality, it was they who knew nothing about this specific gun.
They eventually sold it off line. I checked with them and the letter had not yet been received. I guess they know their clientele........
I looked over their entire on line inventory one day. They have numerous mis-identified or mis-described guns at very high prices. There were a small number of more pedestrian guns at average prices as well.

In full seriousness: it's obvious even from the snap shots that's a stainless steel gun. I can't imagine how anyone could look at it and think it even might be nickel.
