whoever did that has some serious problems.
This S&W Outdoorsman .38 Special is being sold by a real decent gun enthusiast I've dealt with. He's got a firm $500 on it. He didn't crudely hack off the trigger guard. someone else did that, exposing bare and now scrathed up metal on a previously pretty nice finish. If you look at it from underneath the grinded up frame is there glaring at you. I guess someone could finish cutting it down. But to pay someone to finish Fitzing it would just cost money and you'd have a $1000 modified S&W in the end. I could see cutting off the hammer spur since it's a later version, but that barrel is just too nice to cut off. I like fine old S&W's almost as much as Colt's and this just makes me sad.

I saw this and almost cried. I have purchased several guns from the gentleman and he would fit right in here. I wonder if someone was going snub the barrel and lost interest? sigh.. so sad
The horror, the horror! (Col. Kurtz, Apocalypse Now)
Yea I saw this and wrote a response and didn't post it.
Seeing this fine old revolver butchered like that dulls the Happy New Year. Me I felt like crying too, but do not want to dilute my coffee.

very sad, what are people thinking!
That should be a crime.Very very sad.
The only reason that 'fitzing' makes sense to me on any gun is for very large hands, long heavy fingers. Otherwise for me its just cosmetic. It probably worked for Fitz because he was a big man. In my recent 're-creation' I resisted suggestions to 'fitz' it.
Wonder why we don't see 'fitzing' of 1911s.
Wow what an abomination. What's the point in cutting the triggerguard away from a long barreled revolver like this? The guy that did it was either drunk or insane...maybe both.
I wonder if that was a "purpose-built" gun, perhaps for speed shooting. Doesn't make sense to do the trigger guard, and not the other mods, if you just wanted a Fitz. In any case, a very nice gun was ruined.
