I wanted to take some pictures today of the 1974 Series 70 45acp I got in July with the 28 line checkered black walnut "retro" stocks I recently bought for the gun. They are not period correct but they sure do look sharp.
The forecast called for a 30% chance of showers after 4 PM. It was overcast about noon - 1PM, good photo light, so I brought old slabsides downstairs, got my tripod out, a few picture props, etc. I look out the window at 1:30 PM and it's much darker than it was only 30 minutes earlier. Then, I hear the pit-pat of little rain drops. It figures.
The Harrisburg area had about 79 inches of rain in 2011. That's a record here. That's more than the Northwest US, including Seatle, WA. gets on average. We had among other events this year, 12 local tornados, an earthquake, a hurricane, and a serious flood.
I sure hope 2012 brings us better weather and better luck!
Here's wishing the same for all of you where ever you reside.
Mike

My areas of expertise are firearms and Latin females. Not necessarily in that order.
well, a whole bunch of us in texas had one of, if not the worst drought on record, in 2011.
we lost scores of trees and you wouldn't believe all the cracked pipes caused by the dry shifting ground.
wish we could have split up the rain allocation a bit.![]()
I know, Ralph! I have a good friend in North/Northwest (?) TX. in Vernon who I talk to about every 4 weeks. He mentioned the drought. It was in the national news as well.
It was horrible for you folks.
We would have been thrilled to send you 40 inches of our rain last year![]()
You don't have to shovel rain.
Rain here today too. I join you in a wish for better weather for 2012.
Can you take flash pictures inside? One of my resolutions is to make a light box for photographing hand guns. The other involves procrastination. I'll work on that one later.![]()

Any pictures I took with a flash indoors were horrible. Making a light box would address that problem.
If I ever make one it has to be big enough for my rifles, too.
