    My deer season

Wanted to post this for all of you "seasoned" people.
This last deer season, I had a little set back. I had to have a triple bypass in the middle of Texas archery season. The doctors said no using my bow, or shotgun or rifle. Not wanting to not hunt during gun season, I made a deal with my wife. I would hunt with her by my side, and only use my pistol ! I chose my goverment 45, with 200 gr. soft nose. She was sitting next to me in a ground blind and used a doe bleet, and a good sized spike tryed to sneak up on us. He figured something was wrong, and ran about 15 yards off and stoped, giving me time to get on him. I placed the sights behind his should and fired. We tracked him 20 yards and found him piled up. A better blood trail you could not ask for. It was a through and through on both lungs. Because I could not lift him, Theresa went and got our little tractor and cart , and together we got him loaded and up to the house. got him hung, deboned and processed. I have also used this same colt on hogs, with same results. So, if anybody else gets "challenged this way, break out your Colt, and make meat ! Thanks !

Good for you and your wife! I like stories of people actually using their Colts.

Congratulations on a successful hunt and for helping thin out the Texas whitetails. We are over run with them in my part of Texas. I took care of four of them this year.

Thats great!! I wasn't so lucky this season. A lot of people think that a .45acp isn't sufficient for deer hunting. But if you hit what your aiming at, it certainly does the job. I hope you enjoy your venison sir!!
