    Question about C&R license /

I know you have to keep a bound book, but do you have to include all the firearms you have? Even the ones that aren't C&R eligible? What if a friend dropped off a gun by my house, would I have to log that in if it stayed awhile? (as an example, he goes on vacation and drops them off for safe keeping)

I think the dropping off a gun for a while would be a state by state issue not involved with a C&R license. C&R is for collecting and then mostly for an out of state purchase where you otherwise could not buy the gun. My take anyway.

My understanding is that one's 'Bound Book' is only for the notations of acquisition or disposal of Arms which one has obtained with the use of the current License or it's re-ups when continuous, and, that the Bound Book is not used for noting Arms one may have had prior to obtaining the Licence, or which one had acquired via a previous License which had expired without being re-issued continuously, nor for Arms which are outside of the C&R category.

Wiser heads I hope will correct me if I am mistaken.

Oyeboten - Thats a start - Thanks - I'll search out the ATF site and do some reading also. I might have to get one of these eventually. I'd love to get a FFL, but in this county and town it would probably be impossible.

One of the steps in the application process for a collectors license was to obtain a signature from my local law enforcement official. Since I live outside of any city jurisdiction, I had mine signed at the local sheriff office. My Texas sheriff may be more understanding yours. I hope you are able to obtain your license. I've found it helpful.

No, the bound book is only for guns received via your C&R license. If you dispose of them you record that also.

The C&R application copy that goes to the CLEO in for his/her information only - no signature required from them (unlike the Form 3 when buying and SBR, SBS, machine gun).

Clyde, did you mean a Form 4, Form 3's are used by dealers with a class III SOT licence. Form 3's do not require fingerprinting or CLEO sign off.
    I think thats right?

Would not the covered items you have at the time of acquisition of license be considered "beginning inventory" ? ?

I'm not 100% positive about the C&R but as a FFL 01, I have to put everything in my book within 24 hours of acquisition. I would imagine the same applies for the C&R. If a buddy brings me a gun, it must go in the books and the owner would have to be 4473'd to get it back!
