So, prior to your post...Colt has not made any effort to "stay in the commercial handgun business"? I don't follow your thinking.
According to ATF statistics, in 2010 Colt manufactured 29,331 pistols and 2086 revolvers. How is this not making an "effort"?

I was halfway through my first cup of coffee and still not awake when I made the boo-boo of posting this in the classified section thinking I was still in the lounge. Also discovered I'm not smart enough to go back and delete the first post in a thread, if that can even be done.
That is roughly the same number of handguns that S&W makes in a month. Colt long ago fell from any serious competition, struggled through bankruptcy, and is not even among the top 20 handgun manufacturers in the US. About twenty years ago, Colt dropped everything from their handgun lineup except the SAA and the 1911 based handguns, and relied on military rifle contracts to stay afloat. A quick search of this forum will bring up a number of wishful thinking threads about Colt returning to the old days of producing more lines of fine handguns. Hopefully. Colt will continue to expand and grow to their former glory but they have a long way to go.
Good question. I received it in todays e-mail as a Gunsamerica blog announcement from Colt at the current 2012 shotshow, and read it as a reintroduction from Colt. I don't keep abreast of the recent waves of pocket guns and assumed it was a recent reintroduction. Maybe Colt didn't think we were paying attention last year....My apologies to those who find the information repetitive and offensive.
Yeah, Jeff Quinn did a review from last year's SHOT Show. I got the same e-mail from GunsAmerica. Color me confused as to why this is new news.
