Such a shame to see it in that condition. I suppose if such a historic building was involved in anything other than "guns" it would have never been allowed to get in this condition by certain preservation groups. I'll certainly be seeing who I can write a note to. Seems if every Colt owner donated just $1 for each Colt they owned...but perhaps I'm just naive.

I live in West Hartford, CT and drive by the old Colt building on a regular basis, it is a shame its fallen so far into disrepair. Back in the late 90's I actually took part in an art show held in one of the large spaces inside the Colt building, I can only assume it was a factory floor back in the day. Part of the deal to get display space was helping clean the area prior to the exhibit. All I can say is I have never seen so many dead pigeons in my life.....

it's a shame to see that building slowly disintegrate like that.

It was good to read this: The area is being redeveloped and the national park Service is looking at making it a museum. If you feel that this site should be preserved contact your Congressman and Senator and demand that it be saved and restored as a museum. The blue dome which is the original one has been restored, the horse is a reproduction, the original is in the State Library in Hartford, Connecticut.

And speaking of the 'horse', who in the world took that shot of the Rampant Colt?
