Fitz's own Copy of "A Century of Achievement" ..?

Found this at the Gun show to-day...

Nice, minty copy of the wonderful Colt Publication, "A Century of Achievement" ( which I have been wanting to get for quite a while now!)

I notice it has a small signature on the Title Page.

Does this appear to be Mr. Fitzgerald's 'mark' or styalized Signature? Or a Rubber Stamp thereof, which he may have used on his own, or his Office's ephemera/Books/etc?

Some additional Items got indepndantly from the Booklet itself, at the same Show, and which relate to the "A Century of Achievement" Booklet -

    An Envelope from Colt -

The Card one would include when sending off the 25 Cents for the Booklet -

An 8-1/2 by 11 Advertisement for the Booklet -

    A sub-Booklet -

    Fun!

Nice! Thats a neat book isn't it? I don't know if thats his mark, but it sure would be neat if it was. Nice complete set.

Looks like you've got yourself an interesting research project; good luck!

I looked at the one I've had for 30+ years; it doesn't have that mark.

Mine doesn't have that either. I think you scored a pretty nice package. Lots of fun extras too! Congrats.

Well...so far I have not found anything with my various 'google' searches, and, using all sorts of search terms to find something about whether Mr. Fitzgerald had used a particular signature Stamp for his Office or for promotional items he or his office would send out.

Kinda seems like this is what it might be, but, finding a confirmation is a whole other matter.

Probably someone in the Colt Collector's Association would know.

Just for irony, right before Christmas I sent off for a 1930 Hardcover edition of the book "Shooting', and, the darned Post Office lost it somehow...I am still hoping it will show up one of these days...

    Very interesting!
I don't think my Century of Achievement has that marking. I'll pull it out and take a look after I get back from picking up the 1941 DS tonight.

Yes, it looks like the way he sometimes signed test targets and the bottom of boxes for pistols he personally selected. Great find.

    Thats for that mention Kevin!

If anyone could point me to any reference images of such Test Targets, ( or Boxes ) I would be grateful.

I was half way thinking the same thing! - that I may have seen this exact 'signature' on ( internet images of ) Test Targets which Mr. Fitzgerald had done at Colts.
