New Frontier vs Single Six article

Anyone else out there subscribe to Gun Tests magazine... or pamphlet really? They don't publish advertisements. (to remain unbiased I suppose). Also on the internet. They did a comparison of the NF and Single Six last month 4 3/4 barrel lengths ,LR and WMR cylinders.

maybe I should pick a dull and lifeless topic that nobody is interested in. In Gun Test's comparo, they picked the Single Six in all catagories over the New Frontier. The concluding statement was that the only strike the Ruger had against it was that it did not say COLT on it. I wonder if one were to pick say... 4 guns of each and run same tests, wonder what the accuracy results would be? Obviously the Colt couldn't have been new. been long time since they made it. The Ruger looked like a newer one... wasn't a 3 screw anyway. I'm just sayin' and making excuses.

People can buy what they want. My first handgun was a Colt New Frontier 22 and it has served me very well since 1975. I owned a Ruger SS for a brief perod of time. Didn't think it was nearly the gun my Colt was so got rid of it. Didn't think there was any appreciable difference in accuracy. I thought the Ruger SS was half finished and rough compared to my New Frontier 22. As always, JMHO.

I never read that stuff. Comparing one example of a gun with one example of another is a useless exercise. Another pair of guns might give completely different results. This stuff only serves to sell magazines and employ writers (if you can call those guys writers).

i used to subscribe to gun tests magazine years ago.
they preach loud and long about how they are above all the other mags because of a lack of advertising, but i was never sold on their testing and reporting techniques.
they always came across as something written on somebody's back porch to me.

...which, if I remember their rates, they used as an excuse to charge a lot of money for what you aptly decribed as a pamphlet written on the back porch. I think objectivity is self-evident; when someone preaches about how objective they are, I become suspicious.

I subscribed to that rag years ago, and when I dropped them, they kept sending be a bill for a new subscription. They then sent it to a collection agency. I then contacted the Texas AGs office, and told them what was going on. They stopped shortly after that.
