    Parkerized Pistols - both, Colts

These are two of my favorites...... not for everyone, but they're a minor passion of mine.

Nice! I'm partial to parkerized gun myself although the only one I have is an Ithaca M & P M37 shotgun. As a firearm finish I like parkerizing. We do have a Colt .38 Super Combat Commander that has that Colt dull blued finish that looks like parkerizing although I do not think it is.

The Detective Special is a rebuild that I also refinished....
The M1991 is a recent purchase / I replaced the plastic parts with parkerized steel and wood

Yep, Pre 70 frame with a 50s Mil replacment slide, Colt barrel, Nowlin internals with a EGW match bushing. I think it has kind of a classic 55 chevy look. Truman

So whats the story with those D frame stocks? I've seen them on the auction sites and had written them off as aftermarket. I have seen that style on the Aircraftsman but I always wondered if they came on any guns from the factory?

Question. I've never parkerized a revolver. Only autos. Did you plug the bore to keep the phosphate solution out...if so, how did you do it? Or did you also parkerize the bore?

I parkerized a .22 I cut down and militarized for a small boy once, and then found I had to reline the barrel because the parkerizing ruined the rifling.

I love parkerizing...here's a battered, mismatched Colt from '43 that the late Bill Adair re-did. Looks great and doesn't make me cringe if I want to pop off a few rounds. What a "shooter" is all about.
