If you didn't know, Illinois introduced two bills onto the house floor this week. One bans almost all semi-automatics, including hand guns, and the other increases jail time for not complying with the first, which gives you 90 days to comply with the law. Also bans all .50 ammo. I'd just decided it was time to get my hands on a new Colt AR and was having a lot of fun trying to decide where to buy from and exactly what model to buy. I felt like I was a balloon that had just been popped! Both bills have a good chance of passing...so do I move to Colorado or buy a lever action???

Hate to see the legislators do something like that. Here in Va. they're working on removing the one gun a month rule. Right now you can buy one gun every thirty days unless you have a carry permit, then you can buy all you can afford.
This is a primary reason why I moved from Illinois to Indiana. I can't for the life of me understand why a single firearm manufacturer maintains their business in Illinois.
I'm in the same boat as you but I'm not going to stand around & do nothing, I sent my State Rep. an email telling him I did not support this infringement of our 2nd amendment rights and respectfully asked him not to support either bill ! law abiding Illinois residents need to let their politicians know enough is enough !

I'm with you. Sending an email and a snail mail letter. What part of IL?

This is a sad state of affairs indeed, Foregon. Contacting your elected officials is certainly where it starts. I've done this, too, here in Ohio. I politely remind them in each case that Election Day is coming and like-minded voters will determine whether to re-hire them or terminate them at the ballot box. If you are an NRA member then you are in tune with all the happenings in your area & how/where to get ideas and network with fellow gun owners. If not, I recommend you join ASAP & have your friends & family join, too. If it wasn't for the NRA our firearms rights would have disappeared years ago. All is never lost: look what started in Florida in the 1980s and what has transpired since then. Even Ohio shed these Draconian restrictions in 2004. Your neighbors in Wisconsin have been liberated. Illinois will be next, but it will be hard work. The ballot box is the key. We wish you the best!

In suburb just north of the Chicago Border, Wish these corrupt politicians in Illinois would leave the hard working law abiding citizens alone and start worrying about how to keep the State from going bankrupt.
