Anyone know anything about these Colt Derringers?

My wife's father picked these up. Anyone know if they're worth anything?

They say .22 cal short on them.

They are not worth much. It is hard to tell from the picture, but the condition of the pictured guns does not appear too good. These guns were made by Butler for Colt in the early 1970s. They were often sold in cased sets, in "Lord" and "Lady" configurations, or a set with one of each. The pictured set appears to be of two nickel guns with "ivory" stocks. The list price in 1970 for a pair of "Lady" guns (which is what I think you have) was $63.00. The price for one "Lady" was probably about $26.00.

If the set is complete with its original case and shipping sleeve, etc, the set might be worth $100 to $150 or so, maybe more to someone who likes such things. That said, I have seen complete and pristine sets sell for near $400 on the auction sites.

correction-the derringers were made in the early '60's,I won probably 10 or more of them shooting in fast draw contests, they were prizes in the Colt - Sahara FD contests in Las Vegas back then.

$400 is about right on them for very nice ones (sets). Few people ever shot these. So unless there was a storage issue, most are in very good shape.

And yes, they came out in the early 1960's.. 1961 or 1962 I believe.

Yes - these came out in the early 60's.. Here's a similar one I bought in '61 at the tender age of 19.. Cost me all of $22.50.. My first Colt handgun (almost).. Great investment though - probably worth over $30 now!

Enjoy the ride - no-one gets out alive!

They were also made in the early 70's. I keep mine loaded with a smokeless blank for stray cats that come into my yard and want to fight my cats. Works good. Black powder is louder but you have to clean it every time.
