Since the operating system change, use of Google Spell-Check has been wiping out the entire post being checked. That meant, when my weak mind forgot that I should not use Google Spell-Check and tried to use it, whatever brilliant thought I had reduced to writing was lost, and with it, my flash of brilliance, never to be reduced to writing for all posterity.

The forum has required the use of ieSpell, a much less capable spell checker than Google Spell-Check, and one I could never get to work from the supposed "hot button" above the text window. Today, in an all too-common mental lapse, I accidentally used Google Spell-Check on a post and it did not wipe out the post! I tried it on all subsequent posts this morning and it worked for every one. I have begged Administration to fix the problem, and, for reasons unknown, apparently it has. THANK YOU ADMINISTRATION! (The ungrateful side of me wants to ask why it took so long, but the grateful side is so thankful that I will not look that gift horse in the mouth.)

I went on the forum at my office late this afternoon before leaving for a birthday party and wanted to make a brief post on a thread. After I finished typing, I hit the Google Spell-Check, and it wiped out my post, just like it used to do when posting from home. It no longer does that from home.

Why does Google Spell-Check work from my home, but not from my office?

So how do you use the google spell check here?

So far, I've been doing it all sorts of alternative ways. Like doing lengthy posts in word processing where spell checking is a lot easier, then copy and paste. Or, with shorter posts if I see words I'm vague on, copy that word to the task bar and google it alone to wiki or wherever. And learning to proof read is also helpful. There's an art and trick to it. You have to read SLOWLY and almost aloud each word INDIVIDUALLY as you check it. That forces you to not allow the mind to trick you into thinking you checked something when you didn't.

I'm also not above keeping a dictionary handy...

Do you have the Google Chrome web browser installed? What web browser do you use primarily? I've done preliminary investigation and found others having the same problem, and it may be related to the Google Chrome spell checker.
