I'll put on the Big Valley to see if it's an episode I remember where there's lots of shootin'. My son is 29 and I named him Nick because I thought it was a cool name as used by Nick Barkley and Nick Fury. Fury was the comic book guy. The Barkley's and Cartwrights were cursed. The "kids" have everything going for them but never get married because the person always dies or turns out bad. Then they live with mom or dad forever. And if you have a ranch on TV your wife or husband will die and you'll be a single parent to 40 year old kids that never leave the house (The Big Valley, Bonanza, The High Chaparral, Lancer). If you marry Ben Cartwright you'll have a son then die afterwards. That's very suspicious. If they had a CSI Virginia City they might find a darker side to Ben Cartwright. But there's a bright side. If your on Bonanza or The Big Valley you get to wear form fitting clothes in bright pastel colors and are never dirty after a days work on the range. Like Little Joe's cute little green (GREEN?!!) jacket and tight slacks. And you get to kill eight guys a week. Every one is a master gunfighter and you don't even need cartridge loops on your gunbelt in Bonanza because your gun never goes empty. You never see chicks that look like Audra Barkley in old west books yet sh'e gonna be an old maid. I liked the High Chaparral because the family was flawed and you could feel the Arizona heat and taste the dust watching it.
