Apology accepted.
I apologise for that bad insensative stupid post.
Apology accepted.
Does anybody know if the red ramp insert on the front sight was standard for S&W in 1957-1958?
I cannot remember.
Friendship like that which your dad has is rare and priceless. The 29 will be lovingly taken care of, this I'm sure. Wonderful thing.
Wyatt's Posse...yeah I can ride...cinched up and a boot in the stirrup waiting for the call.

Here's a couple more pics that Charlene took today when he was visiting my old man.

Nice gun! I think I like your dad. At least I'm not the only person who doesn't have deep window sills for taking indoor gun pictures.
New here, but I've been on the SW forum for awhile. No board is immune arguementative or onery posts, but the nice thing about the SW Forum is the owner does not put up with any of it. He takes his ownership of that board very seriously, and expects adult behaviour, with some allowances of course.
To say that was a good deal is an understatement, and doesn't do justice to the obvious friendship between the men.
Don't let those grips get away from that gun, they certainly do look like cokes, and are probably worth 3-400 on their own.
Beautiful Smith & Wesson! I absolutely love the old S&W Coke stocks, and the bluing craftsmanship on these early Smiths was outrageous! There is absolutely nothing more beautiful than the bluing both Smith and Colt were doing up through the 50's and early 60's. They really don't make guns like they used to.... (sigh)

twaits, I think I would boycott the dealer that tried to steal this revolver from you dad's friend.
