    New Remington 51

Look for a new release Model 51 from Remington at the SHOT Show . It's intended to compete with the Shield , LC9 and XDS pistols that are so popular these days . Single stack , polymer frame , 9mm & 40 SW . The model name is R51 .

Do we "need" another one ? I think the market will accept it . The single stack carry pistol is very hot these days with Ruger , S&W and Springfields usually on back order .

    It will sell .

I have an original 51 so I'll be looking for this at the show.

I saw a Remington M-51 at our LGS last week. It was gone in a few days. I guess there is still a market for them.

Welcome back Remington to a non-hunting handgun market. Its long overdue.

Can you imagine a 9mm, single stack, aluminum and steel (no polymer) Colt 1903 style pistol? Similar to the new Remington with big quality sights, a striker fired style trigger with the grip safety? As the original poster mentioned, the market is wide open for these types of guns. The single stack 9mm (and a .40 S&W on the way) is the what the market wants badly. There is enough room for everyone.

People would buy a quality Colt in a heartbeat!

I congratulate the management at Remington for doing something different and bold, yet maintaining a symbolic connection (if only a model name) to a respected product from the past.

I think there are probably better 9x19 pistols in that size category, but time and hands-on testing will tell.

I'm going to order one, I will support American Manufacturers who release good quality offerings. I really like the idea of a compact with a good out of the box 1911 style pistol. Kudos to Remington!
