On another thread Dirty Harry posted a picture of a beautiful new in the box pre M27. Since a lot of us Colt collectors also like that "other brand" and I rarely go to the Smith & Wesson forum because I like you guys more, lets see some S&Ws.
Smaller S&W Auto; the Escort. Its a .22lr semi-auto; when it was first introduced it rapidly became a Police Officer's backup gun. I've read that they fit in handcuff cases. Part of the field stripping process is to remove the front sight.
First, since it`s stainless, that should be called a 625? Yours is stainless, not nickle right? You have the full length ejector housing. Presentation smooth grips. I like those and have several pair. My 25-5 is .45 colt. I see yours is 45 acp and auto rim. I like your Thunder ranch too. Thats in .44 special, not 45 colt? I know they made both but may have my model numbers mixed up. All great guns!
I probably would shoot more often and be more accurate if I had only a couple guns. I haven't seen the bottom object before. I suppose it`s to load the .45 acp clips with? How do you like the green front sight? I once traded into a 4" nickle model 19 with one. It was the first
I ever seen at the time. (30 years ago). At that time it turned me off and I didn't give it a chance and traded it off. Now I wish I had kept it. Also I have a wide target trigger on my 25-5. Yours is the narrower standard which many like better.
feralmerril - the finish on the gun is MagnaPort's hard chrome finish called MagnaLife; it's chambered in .45 Colt; .45 acp with moon clips and then TK Custom in Illinois milled the rear of the cylinder so I can use their spring steel .45 Colt Moon Clips.
One of the best series of guns they ever made were the J frame .22s. This one a 2” M34
From the same series, the airweight 3.5” M43. My first gun, my parents bought me this in the early 1970s. Still have the box, etc and it has uncountable thousands of rounds thru it
A really fun gun to shoot and hard to find these days, the M35 6”. All the grace of a giraffe, but really a fun gun to shoot.
feralmerril - I missed your comment regarding the green neoprene front sight. I understand that it was a MagnaPort insert. From what I have learned about the gun - at MagnaPort it had an action job (as evidenced by the cylinders being numbered however the millwork by TK Custom for the moon clips removed the numbers), porting, the sight insert, and their MagnaLife Hard Chrome finish. I suspect they installed the barrel as well but don't know for sure. I went to MagnaPort's website and priced all the work they did...let's just leave it at I paid less for the gun then the work done by them!
The model 19 had a green florescent insert. I just had never seen one before that gun. I have this all out model 66-3 from the s&w performance center. Three hundred were made for Lew Horton. It also has a port in front of it`s trilijon night sight.
It`s my most tricked out handgun with most if not all of smith`s extra features. Yours has everything too! Now you need a nice BBQ rig if you dont have one. Thinking of that, I am adding a picture of my El Paso holster for mine. My front sight has lost it`s glow. I need to drift it out and send it to the company. I think they can recharge them.
Picked up two from a LGS last week. A 2" M&P, and a Regulation Police.
