Welcome aboard, great to have you here! Try looking at the Colt Officer's Models and Colt Police Positive line. But just hang around here for a while and you'll want them all! Again, welcome.
Hello, I'm a big colt fan with a small collection. I'm currently holding a Colt WWII 1911 (1944), a Colt Cadet .22, and a Colt Official Police Revolver in .38. I'm a big fan of colt firearms and really enjoy the collection as well as sport shooting of firearms in general. Unfortunately as most of us might say, my wallet can rarely support what my hands are willing to carry.
With this introduction, I'd like to post a question out there to all of the forum members. Knowing what I currently have, what is another colt firearm that would make a great addition to my current colt collection (if you can call it that)? In terms of pistols I love the diamondbacks and pythons (shot both this summer, pretty amazing) and I've always been intrigued by the Colt Lightning. All three happen to be out of my price range from what I have seen, so any thoughts on a reasonably priced colt that is fun to shoot and may have some collector value? I'm looking in the $400-700 range.
Thanks!

Welcome aboard.
If you are patient and watch carefully, especially locally, you might just find a Python for your $700 upper limit. I got started on Colts last year when I was offered a Python for $500 and couldn't refuse. There's a really rough one on GB right now that the current bid is $630.
Lightnings have a reputation for being very difficult and expensive to keep running.
Welcome to the forum. I'd consider a Detective Special or Cobra for your collection, but I'm highly predjudiced!

Oh My!
Welcome aboard, there is always just one more out there to buy. I prefer the semi-auto pistols myself. Do your homework, sometimes a more expensive one is cheaper that a cheaper one, if you have to make repairs. Either way, happy hunting.
Tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday.
Thank you for all of the suggestions! Greatly appreciated. I'll definitely have some homework to do now after reading some of the recommendations. Some I've read about but there are some definite new ones there as well. Its such a shame about the lightnings needing so much TLC. I love the slide action/pump rifles. They just seem so freaking cool, the old winchesters and colts alike. I really start to wonder if I was born during the wrong time period because I just can't get into these modern weapons at all! For example, I shot both an AR-15 & Mosin Nagant this weekend for the first time and actually enjoyed shooting the mosin nagant more. (I know I'll get some flack for that, sorry) Like I said my tastes are for a by-gone era apparently. Thanks again.
welcome to the forum!
