Hi,guys, I just bought my 3rd Colt today, so I guess it's about time I joined. I am a veterinarian in central Illinois, but enjoy target practice and an occasional varmint shooting. Sold my first Colt, a 1936 Colt Official Police, (absolutely pristine, unmarked),I bought it from the son of an older gentleman who never even shot it, so how could I. Anyhoo, I like to shoot what I buy! 2nd Colt is a WW1 1911 Colt 45 manuf. 1918. Unfortunately reblued but I still like it alot and can shoot it all I want.....So today,I bought my 3rd, a 70 Series Combat Commander 45 in Nickel Satin. Just need to clean it up some. Kinda dirty looking. No real scratches on it. What would be the best way to clean it up. I was told to use gun oil with Very Fine steel wool. Any recommendations other than this one? Thanks and I look forward to enjoying this Forum!

Tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday.
Nice to meet you; welcome to the Forum. You might try Flitz before going to the steel wool. Hopefully it will come clean easily.
