Welcome from Texas OkieinCali. Great forum for all things Colt, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
New to the site, just getting acquainted with things. I did do a bit of a bio, but I'm generally not all that good at talking about ME, unless I am poking fun at myself, so there's not much there. I own several nice old Colt pieces, and am always looking for more, but the wonderful "Roster of Approved Handguns" for this communist state, prevents me from buying some of the pieces I'd like to have, unless it is already in this state. What a crock!!! Because some self-serving politicians created a list of what is and is not approved, I can't buy a Detective Special, or a Diamondback, or several other fine (not so) older Colts, simply because they are not on this arbitrary list.
Anyway, I have a nice, Series 80, Combat Commander, an early Delta Elite, a m1911 (NOT A1, bought YEARS ago from the DCM, with matching numbers), 3 Pythons (blue 6", blue 4" and stainless 4"), A 1st model Woodsman Match Target, and an early Huntsman. Plenty of other manufacturers pieces, but this IS the COLT Forum, so I'll just mention the Colt pieces I have. I likely have another 1 or 2 Colts, that I am not remembering off the top of my head, but suffice it to say, when it comes to handguns, I prefer Colt, to any other manufacturer, for the most part.
I look forward to poking through the postings, and learning things I didn't previously know about my favorite handguns.

I am a sheepdog!
I wish I had a magic bullet for your problem but all I have are hollow points.
Welcome to the forum. I know how you feel. I was looking at a great detective special but alas it was not in state. At least I had the good fortune to get a chance to pick up a trooper and a lawman snubby from a fellow LEO when his department went to semi autos.

Welcome from Illinois, currently under occupation by the communist state of chicago.

Oh My!
I'll be moving to my home in eastern Oklahoma, likely next June, but my HR 218 expires well before then, and must be renewed here in the PRK, so I wanted to buy a Detective Special, to add to the HR 218, when I renew. The Commander is just too darned big, for everyday carry, and the PPK, is too ineffective. I may buy a Kahr, just to get me by, but I'm no fan of the 9mm, so it will have to be a .40, if I get one. I guess I'll just have to keep alert for someone here in the PRK, who is willing to sell a Detective Special, at a reasonable price, before the HR 218 expires, in April. That, or carry the 4" Python, but, it, too, is a bit too big, for everyday concealed carry.
D-Frame, I am sorry to say, I'm afraid, that like the PRK, we'll never get the Great State of Illinois back from the commie/statists. It is lost forever, hence, my anxiousness, to remove myself from this Commie state. It's a shame, because 90% of the geographical area of California, is nothing like the 10% which controls the legislature, and statewide elected offices. They can have it. I'm going where men are still free, and the state politicians live within their means. The Land of Fruits and Nuts, has nothing left, for me, and my family.
