Pair of Model Ms from Uncle

In my first introductory Thread I noted that I would upload some pictures. So, this is Intro part II, the pictures of a pair of sweet 1903 Model Ms from 1917 and 1920. The 1917's blueing is not primo and the 1920 nickel has a few nicks on grip, probably from ring finger. The grips were switched as the nickel piece came to me with the Franzite grips sporting what looks like a US postal logo. Can anybody confirm? Was the Nickel gun a Post Office Issue? Did they? I would order a letter but Colt has priced them too high for what I would get. Last I heard over $130.

Since these photos, I replaced the Franzite that don't fit so good with repro grips that look just like the black ones on the nickel gun. Screw was too short so I have to reorder a 1 inch grip screw and esconsions? or whatever they are called.

I took these out to the range in Vancouver, WA. 32 ammo is expensive for what you get and after shooting up 2 boxes at $34 per box I found a website and bought 8 boxes of Fiochi for $12 per box including shipping. Such a Deal. Anyway, the nickel Colt is very accurate and very fun to shoot, so smooth. The Blued Colt seems to have a bent front sight, leans to left ever so slightly but was still easy to shoot and accurate. The mags are original, 2 tone on blued and nickel on nickel and both are interchangable, which is good because I haven't been able to find extra mags anywhere yet.

These guns are a pleasure just to hold. The cold steel, balance and looks are just right for my hand and with one in each hand I fantasize a Dillinger shootout. I guess these were favorite guns of the Mob and Loners like Clyde, (of B and C). This was one of Colt's best selling guns next to the 1911.

Anything else yall can tell me about the 1903s would be much appreciated. These are Model Ms type III, the holsters are Bianchi.
