New Member-Baldie, Love all Colts. I have a question.

I am a new member. I have just acquired a 357 magnum carry Model Number SD2020FE. Fe stands for 1st edition.(hope I didn"t insult). I cannot fine any info on the first edition model. It was made 1 year, 1998. (1 of 400). I was wondering how rare and is value. I can find no info on my new toy. It is NIB, has white sleevebox cover, in blue plastic case, still in the plastic, with all tags attached. Any info would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. The first story was that only 200 were made, but I might question that. I had number 0296 and very low (0001 to 0003) are known to exist. At the same time, it appears there may be regular marked Magnum Carrys interspersed in the first few hundred numbers, so it is still unknown IMO. The Magnum Carry was supposedly made for one year in the 1998 to 1999 timeframe, but the 1st Edition indeed should have been made early on in that period. The only real difference AFAIK is the roll mark and the fact that they were packaged as Custom Shop items. There are several threads on the forum about Magnum Carrys including a few mentions and pictures of 1st Editions like this:

I would value one that is truly NIB with the outer sleeve at $1500 to $2000, but I get out of date on prices quickly because I don't watch them closely. Other opinions are welcome.

Welcome to the Forum!! As always, A1A will shoot you the straight scoop. Members here have had numbers 1 and 3. I believe the #3 was recently sold. And as he points out, low serial number standard issue guns (those without the 1st Edition stamp) are inter-mixed. I have one, serial number 47 (SY0047) that came with standard plastic box and not the Custom Shop box.

We'd love for you to post a photo of the gun here: Colt Magnum Carry Photo Thread...

Thanks A1A, My Magnum Carry is just like the one you pictured. My Serial # is SY0391. I can't find any info on line or Blue Book etc. I was wondering if some knew where I might find some info about it before contacting Colt for Auth. Letter. Mine is in the blue plastic box with the white sleeve cover and was manf in 1998, bought at a gun shop, still in the plastic. Thx in advance for any further ideas. Baldie

Thx to everyone who replied to my magnum carry first edition

Thx to everyone who gave a response to my Colt 357 Magnum Carry 1st edition. I have confirmed the authenticity (Mispelled) with Colt. The usual questions from Colt, do u have the white box sleeve, plastic, blue box etc. Their response was it is only worth what some one will pay. The guy from The blue book commented about a man who paid $17,000.00 for a 2 inch barrel python ordered from custom shop. He said the man would die with the gun. Who knows. Me, the gun is paid for, safe and I can look at it anytime. I would sell it or trade for a Winchester 9422 Eagle Scout NIB and Boy Scout NIB with like serial numbers. Some of you are probably laughing your rear off but you never know, someone might need the gun to complete a collection. I also have 14 Colt Commerative Scouts
NIB in display cases, all are perfect. No scratches on cylinder where gun may have been dry fired. ( 2 of which are Lawman Series) They are for sale. If you have an interest, please reply. I'm interested in 410"s, and 22 long guns, new in boxes high grades and/or rare. Ya'll stop laughing now, I'm just cutting dow on number of guns that I keep in safe which I rarely see to something really nice I can get to and love on a little easier. I must be getting smarter or dumber in my old age but........ The liberals say we are sick but what do they know. HaHaHa.

Welcome aboard, baldie! I'm a Colt M1911 guy myself, but this thread has been another educational learning experience about Colt wheelguns. You came to the right place for all things Colt. Enjoy the ride!
