Looking at the new 2011 Colt Mustang

Hi All First, I would like to tell every Hi and that I am new to this great site. I am in my late 50s and have been mostly shooting rifles and shot guns, when I was younger. After moving from Indiana, Yes to the state of Illinois, I didnt hunt and use my guns as much as I would have liked to. Imagine why that would be living in Illinois? But know I am getting back into range shooting with my friends. I am a new owner of a Springfield, XDm 40 cal compact and just love the pistol. I am not use to shooting a semi automatic pistol. However, I did go to the range a week ago for my first trial run shooting at a target. The problem that I am having is that my pattern is consistant and all within a 1" to 2" clusher at 30 feet. But the clusher is 4" to the lower left corner of the target. Now to hit the target I have to aim about 3" to the upper right of the target. Bear in mind, I have the feeling of eye to target aiming, in that I have used a rifle before. With the rifle, I am usally lined up and right on target. When using a pistol, do you have to lead the target this far off center inorder to hit the target? Can it be the way I am holding the gun that is causing my problem? or can the gun sights be off? or is this normal for shooting a pistol. I know I need more range time and dry fire time. I am doing that also. My friend who is a retired police captain, told me that I am rolling my gun to the inside just before I am firing and that is a common problem for a first time shooter. He stated that he was impressed with how well I did for someone who has never shot a semi auto pistol. I really love the feel of this Springfield, XDm 40 Cal compact and want to improve my shooting. My Hat is off to Springfield for making this pistol. Athought I just bought the Springfield, I am now looking at the new 2011 Colt Mustang 380 pocketlight. This is a dream gun that I have always wanted. I can't wait to get to the gun show and try this one out. Regards to ILLinois Gun Laws, these laws really need to be changed. How wrong is this? I will try and do my part in making changes to these laws. In Illinois and Chicago, we need conceal gun carry now. That's my view point. Thanks for listening Yours Ted

Welcome to the Forum! That New Mustang is really hard to get, I've been trying to get one for months and havent saw the first one yet in this part of the country but you never know what you will run up on. I know some here have saw some at their local gun shops but not many.
