Glad to have found this site. Currently have one Colt and a few others. The Colt is a model 1908 .380 caliber. Was my grandfather's, need to research the serial number, was told it was his during WWI, but that that might be a family "legend". Excellent condition, he and my father stored it carefully, bluing is a bit worn but no rust, barrel is perfect, grips perfect. Would love to have it professionally reblued, but that might detract from its sentimental value ? Looking forward to learning more about it and my all time favorite the 1911 45 cal.

Welcome to the forum, nice to 'meet' you. I have to agree with the Kid and your sense of sentiment; I wouldn't refinish the gun either. Glad you're here.

Welcome from the Tarheel State, CJ. There will be no one on the Colt Forum, that is free of the devil and spirits within, that will advise of a rebluing of any kind of Colt. ... I heard an "amen" from the back row I think.
Really old people are not reblued when they get rusty. We love them more. They have character and may smell funny.. like molasses and icy hot mixed together, but it takes a life time to get to where they're at. Same with that thar pistol.
pics always welcome.

And greetings from neighboring Ohio! Great to have you here, CJKaz. My all-time fave is the M1911, too. Guess it's the stuff of legends & besides they are great weapons. I'm an old sentimental guy & remember carrying the Gov't Model in the Army.
