Since this thread has attracted the Detectives of the forums, I've got a question.

I have the opportunity to pick up a NIB Detective from about '76. It looks identical to Colt-SL's

Would you fire and carry such a gun? I really don't have any safe queens, I shoot all of my guns. I really want something I can carry..............

Absolutely. I carried a DS for years before selling it. When I realized I had to have another I found mine on Gunbroker. The ad said that it didn't look like it had been fired but the original owner told the dealer it had. That was enough for me. I've fired it and loved it, cleaned it back up and it serves on carry duty rotation replacing an unfired Magnum Carry. Shoot 'em; you can always clean 'em. (Highly collectibles excluded - HA!)
