Here’s a couple.
This one is chambered in 41 Colt and was shipped to Tomkins Hardware in Leadville, Colorado; September 30, 1892.
This one is chambered in 45 Colt and was shipped to Walter Tips in Austin, Texas; December 29, 1896.
There have been a number of old threads featuring these old boys but many of the posted pictures have been deleted and none of the threads was expressly confined to antique (Model P) Single Action Armys delivered prior to 1899. I think a new thread is in order for these old guys. They reek with history. While they may not have not have been the gun of choice (outside of the U.S. Military) and because of their lack of availability and high cost may not have been that widely used until well into the 1890's, they remain Colt's signature revolver and remain the icon revolvers of the American West. I know collecting these guns today is basically a rich man's sport. So touting these guns could seem elitist. But I also know from your past posts that there is interest in these historical guns and that many of you have been able to acquire outstanding examples of these guns.
So I am starting this thread to be exclusively devoted to these guns. To serve as a growing tribute and to be a single thread where pictured examples of their kind, high condition or used-worn, civilian or martial, with provenance or of unknown history, beautiful or ugly, can be posted for our Forum member's viewing pleasure and reference.
I ask only that you post on this thread pre-1899 SAAs which you believe are original or have only period replaced parts or alterations and if there is a story about or with your gun, include that too. So please post pictures (and repost your old posts) of your antique SAAs so we have a single place to visit for our mutual enjoyment, reference and education and if you want to show off a little, thats OK too.
To start things off. Here is 44-40, SN 17xxx. It was shipped in 1897 to Montgomery Ward & Co. in Chicago, Ill. Probably purchased by a resident in that area as the 1975 Colt letter was addressed to an Illinois resident.
Here is a 43 Colt, SN 24xxx. Shipped in March 1876 to Spies, Kissem & Co. in NY.
Here is one of my favorites, A 45 Colt, SN 43xxx. Shipped in August 1880 to H & D Folsom Arms Company in NY.
Thats it for now. Please share yours.

I love these old SAA Colts. Some nice ones posted here already, just beautiful.
Here is my addition, an 1889 manufacture 4 3/4" in the cowboy cartridge 32-20. All numbers matching with tight lockup.
I shoot it occasionally too.

reinhard. Very nice examples. Could you post some details about them, such as SN's, Year shipped, out of the ordinary features? I especially like the 4 3/4" etch panel. Is it a 5 SN gun? Does the barrel have a 2 line address and does it have a matching SN?
Wow, those are nice, thanks for sharing guys.
I like the watches too Mr. Rush.

MrRush ,my compliments on your photo's ,they are outstanding(fantastic composition)
the artillery's frame serial is 131596 the revolver comes with the( original to the gun) holster ,all other serials mixed and R.A.C inspected, the etched barrel Colt has a a 5 digit SN and all are matching SN's.the barrel has a two line adress I think it was a presentation gun ,at one time there whas a shield attached to the grips and the gun is presented in an original oak(?) box
the 7,1/2 inch nickelplated colt came from Arizona, and was allegedly worn by some rancher untill the seventies, but you know how it goes with stories behind guns...
