Very interesting find![]()
A good freind of mine was rebiulding a basement wall at a older ladies home and while taking a inside wall out he found the pistol in the bottom sealed for many years. It was just like in the picture, in the holster with the City Marshal badge. The old gal told him to throw it away, that it was probably something her husband had hidden before he died. He has no interest in guns so I purchased it from him right away. Just trying to get some ideas on if I sound just keep it together as found or should I clean it up and shoot it with all my other toys. Badge seams to be real and in pretty good condition. I ran the s/n 197271 and found that it is made around 1920. It is a Colt Police Positive 38 special Says Colts PT F A MFG. Co Hartford. I also just found a Richardson Industries Slam gun or gorilla gun at a garage sale. They thought it was a toy and I wasn't sure until I checked it out online. Wow, two very cool new toys. All I can do is sit here and stair at them. Thanks for listening. Scott

Nice find! Clean it up with Flitz, and if it is in good mechanical shape, use it like any other revolver.
Very cool find, clean it and go shooting.
Choot it Lizbeth Choot it!
You just lived out one of my fantasies,or at least one we can talk about on a family forum. Finding an old gun buried or hidden like that. Wow! And it's a Colt! That holster and badge is worth investigating, too. Another old time sixgun with a forgotten history that we wish could talk to us.
The gun looks fine on the outside. As long as the lockwork is good, I'd just clean it with some Remoil and make sure the barrel is smooth and unobstructed.
I'd definitely shoot it.
Can't say much about the holster. It looks to me like it could be home made.
The badge has me wondering. Is it real or a copy? I don't know anything about badges, but suspect it should have more information on it.
Great find and aquisition!

There's a guy here that is an expert in old badges. It might be Kleinkaliber?
Anyway, you should post some pics of any markings that are on the back of it.
I'd be interested in the badge at the right price.
Message me if you want to sell it.
