Texas Ranger Museum

I'm a recent transplant to Texas from outside Carson City, Nevada (Dayton). When I arrived here one of the first things I did was to go to the Texas Ranger museum. Absolutely incredible! Unfortunately, my camera battery died so I was only able to take a few photos. Thanks.

Great display, thanks for the fine pictures.

One of the more amazing, unique and endearing things about the old classic Texas Rangers was their personal independence in choice of weapon and attire - right down to the badge he wore.

BTW, I'm familiar with that area around Carson City ... have you ever visited that little museum in the old Genoa Courthouse?

There's a display in there of ranch equipment and Cowboy gear that has some real history behind it.

Here's a link to a picture of L.G. Phares (in uniform) and B.M. Gault taken in May of 1934. Chief Phares is wearing the diamond-shaped badge in your first picture:

Thanks for the kind words, I can't wait to go back and see the Ranger Museum again! There are some wonderful gun displays throughout the Carson Valley area. If you get a chance check out the Carson City Mint as well as some of the museums in Virginia City. Also, the gun show at the Grand Sierra Resort. I have seen SAA #114, Buffalo Bill's Colt 1903, Roy Rogers gold SAA's, Julian Hatcher's SAA "44 Russian and S&W Special" all on display at the Grand Sierra Resort show.

Great shots! I was there last week. My employer is headquartered in Waco. For anyone traveling there, a really nice day starts with a morning tour of the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum, then an afternoon meal, across the street, at Buzzard Billy's Armadillo Bar & Grillo. Gotta sample them Gator fingers, Cajun popcorn (crawfish) and Armadillo eggs (stuffed jalapeno's wrapped in bacon). Great outting!

Those are nice pictures. It's fun to go to a museum like that.
