    My Government Resto Project

I decided to refresh one of my aging Colt .45's..

    Before:
The pics don't really show how beat up it was. Lots of small scratches & worn bluing.

    Teardown:
I guess the previous owner had a rail mounted to the slide. It was removed & filled before I bought it.

    Stripping Finish:
Scotch Brite pad to clean up the scratches and the finish was glass beaded off.

That's where I'm at as of today (11/11/11)... I'm going to use DuarBake to refinish it. I'm still tiring to decide what color to use.. WWII OD Green or Combat Black...

Excellent job to date! I'll cast my vote for Combat Black. Keep us posted.

Uhhh.. Unfortunately my Wife wants me to "Pink" out a Commander I have for her.. I was thinking about picking up a Glock for her instead. I wouldn't feel very bad about painting that pink...

It would look pretty awesome in the green... BUT.... that being said.. has a pistol ever looked bad in black?

Well I decided to go with Blue Wonder Gun Black as a finish... I only did the frame & slide. I wasn't happy with the look so I re-bead blasted it & I'm going with a factory gun blue.
