My "Colt's" Dragoon And Gold Rush Survival Kit

I just bought this Uberti 2nd Model Dragoon from Charlene here on the forum. It is just a wonderful beast! I think these Uberti percussion "Colts" are a fantastic deal. This one has no proof marks or writing of any kind whatsoever except hidden under the loading lever. My 1860 army seems tiny in comparison. I specifically wanted this model with the standard cylinder notches and a squareback guard. I live right around gold rush country and in the three books pictured below are well documented cases of Colt Dragoons being whipped out during gunfights in the 1850's. If anyone says the age of the gunfighter started at the end of the Civil War they are mistaken. That knife is a copy of the Musso Bowie, as used by Jason Patrick in "The Alamo". An authentic design.

These books are packed with true depictions of percussion Colts being used in gunfights. This author is my favorite and a regular expert on Wild West Tech.

    Nice,

I think I may have shot that Dragoon last Winter at Charlene's. It was loaded sitting on a table in his house
But I've lost track of how many Dragoons he has now so I suppose it could have been any one of them.

Yours looks so good I think I'll give mine a freshen-up. Cold blue for most of it, sandpaper & light stain for the grip, silver duracoat for the grip frame but I haven't figured out how to do the case on the frame, maybe water colors and a squirt of clear plastic spray. What think?

Nah, I'm thinking a real high polish and buffing wheel. Get rid of that stupid engraved scene on the cylinder and nickel plate that thing. Throw those grips away and get some nice fake ivory grips made of plastic.
I'm still looking for an original Walker to do this to:

I think you should trade it for something useful, like a Glock.

twaits - For your Snub-dragooon, did you just deepen your hip pocket or a shoulder rig? Kinds in the same idea, I have a .45 C96 Mauser thinking about bobbing off to 2".

I have a hip holster that was made out of an old rifle scabbard that I always used. The barrel used to stick down through the bottom though.

That 2" Mauser idea sounds amazing. Thats one I've never seen done as a snub before. Weren't the .45s made in China? How is the quality of those?
Sorry Wyatt...didn't mean to hijack your thread!

That thing needs to have a "digital camo" finish applied, and Picatinny rails installed on the top and both sides of the barrel!!
