    Black powder ammo source

Still don't own my 45 Colt SAA yet, but have been stocking up on some cowboy loads and one box of Buffalo Bore ammo that's safe for the Colt...

Then, by chance, I saw a video of a guy blasting away on YouTube with some black powder ammo and a SAA. I thought to myself: "have I just seen heaven?!"

I found some BP ammo and ordered up 100 rds. To add to the ammo stock.

Where are some places I can look to find more BP ammo (not components but the whole catridge)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks!

Also, is there anything different I need to do prior to or after shooting BP compared to smokeless, modern ammo?

A thorough cleaning is in order as black powder residue will cause rust. There are lots of cleaning formulas and methods out there. Don't procrastinate on cleaning. It's much easier to clean than to get over a rusted toy...

YEAH! Clean it at the range or you may not be allowed back in the house again! It's easy and faster while the residue is fresh!

Yeah, the blackpowder is very corrosive - Clean it right away and clean it good. My nephew ruined a blackpowder rifle by not cleaning it. Corroded the barrel to where it was so rough that you could barely get a bullet doen it. So you can shoot it , but clean it ASAP.

Use animal or plant oils after cleaning, petroleum oils are not friendly with B/P they really gum the works up.

The above is true. Also those who said you should clean well, and ASAP after shooting. BUT cleaning is not as hard as what you might think. Also, you don't need any of the 'miricle' or 'secret' BP cleaning products you may see advertised. Hot water and dish soap work just fine. I prefer 'Dawn'. But only 'cause I like the smell, any other brand works just as good.
