I heard that the wolf match target .22 LR ammo was superb. A gun store owner told me He can shoot dimes at 50 yards with this ammo thru his target ,scoped .22 rifle. Said it vwas the most accurate .22 ammo He has ever shot. I couldnt get it anywhere , even thru him as it was and is in such demand. I found some at Cabellas yesterday so I bought a 10 box case as thats all that was left. The salesman told me they sold the first 5 boxes in an hour.
I took my 51 year old Colt Officers model match and my Smith and wesson modrel 17-3 to the range at 7 am today. The only pistol range is 32 yards from the bench to the target. So thats where I shot. Here are the results:
Colt OMM with the wolf ammo- group size was 2 1/2 " at 32 yards , 6 shots. The best group I had was with Winchester LR HP- group size was 1 1/2 inches, 6 shots.
With the S &W I got a 2 1/2 " gropup also with the wolf ammo which was also the best group I got with that gun.
With my Ruger mark II Target, my best group was with mini mags 22 lrhp which was 1 /3/4 " . the wolf ammo gave a 3 1/4 " group.
So the colt got the best group but with winchester ammo. The smith and the colt shot the same with the wolff ammo. All groups were 6 shot groups at 32 yards off sandbag rest.
Maybe the wolf ammo shoots better in rifles It did not impress me that much in handguns.

"Low End Accumulator.........Ships aren't built for harbours, & guns aren't built for safes"
Wolf 22 ammo shoots great in my 2 Anschutz rifles, an old 54 Match and a 64 MPR. I do not recall trying any in handguns.
At least in my rifles, I have found you need to shoot 15 or more rounds to deposit the different lube for the best accuracy to appear.
While not as accurate as Eley or other top match ammo, it is close enough for pretty serious practice. And cheaper.
