I am just getting started in reloading and need some information. I was given a set of Lee carbide dies for .38/.357. I will probably be reloading .45 ACP and .30/30 loads. What do members think of Lee dies vs. RCBS dies? Thanks for the assistance.

I have Lee, Redding, RCBS & Forester. They all work well.
I own or have owned Lee, RCBS, Lyman, and Redding dies, but my first choice for dies for all my reloading these days are Lee dies. IMHO, much less expensive than the other brands, made in the USA, and do every bit as good a job as the higher priced brands.
apples vs oranges.
blonds, redheads, brunettes.
ive consolidated all of my dies to LEEs. i will tell you one thing, if you ever get a stuck case, you will like them.
My Lee dies work every bit as well as every other brand I've got. I have all the current brands and several from makers long gone. One thing; follow the particular die makers instructions. Each maker has minor unique features that can make set up and use vary slightly from one brand to the next.
Good shooting!!!!!
One advantage to lee dies is that one can attach a powder measure to the top of the expander die on the pistol dies that really speeds up single stage reloading of pistol calibers.
I'm the odd one here but the Lee dies are loathsome in my view. Don't like using them or the Lee shell holders at all. Don't like the the round red cases they come in. Don't like the way they adjust because their expander and seater plugs don't turn smoothly. What's with the aluminum and that silly neoprene?
I prefer RCBS or any other maker's die sets.
LISTEN TO THIS FELLOW AS HE KNOWS WHERE OF HE SPEAKS !!!!
At last noting I have used 28 brands of dies over the past 50 years. All but one set would load perfectly viable ammunition. I was able to fix that one oddball set but there is still no denying that with precision equipment, you get what you pay for, indeed, it CANNOT be any other way.
And so it goes....
I started out using only RCBS equipment, but over the years have bought a lot of Lee products, including their dies. I have had zero troubles outta Lee dies. Matter of fact, they are the only brand I shop for now. I sure have loaded some accurate bolt gun ammo with their collet die that neck sizes only.
