    Anaconda .45 loads

I just bough a Anaconda in .45 Colt long. My Speer reloading manual has loads for the Colt SAA and another section for ".45 Colt for Ruger or Contender only". I know the manual is out dated , maybe it was printed before the Anaconda came out. Can I use the data for the Ruger or Contender for my Anaconda ? If not , does anyone have a better book that includes the Anaconda ?

    You are own your own

When the gun came out in 1993, the gun writer tested it with only standard factory loads at the time and maybe some favorite standard pressure reloads but stated he was going to test some ruger/TC loads in it at a later time. I don't recall the magazine or writer at the moment. If the gun would have continued in production after 1999, then maybe other manuals MIGHT have included it with Ruger/TC data. The only other measure of acceptance with higher than standard loads is Buffalo Bore's approval that it is OK with its plus P 45 Colt ammo. I have fired some (about 150 rounds) ruger loads (255 Keith bullet at 1100 FPS actual velocity)out of mine (6 in. stainless) with no issues but again that no assurance that wear is not accelerated with the heavier loads.

I have shot my bear load - Cast Performace 300gr LFNGC in front of 21.5gr of H110 just to see where it hit and it's right on the money. However, this is just my carry in the woods load and I only plan on shooting this load if I have to. I have no desire to beat up the gun nor my wrist with heavy thumpers.

My regular 45 Colt fodder is pretty much anything in the 225-250 range with 6.5gr of Red Dot. It is like a freakin' laser beam in my 4" Anaconda.

I have not seen the Anaconda mentioned specifically in any of my manuals, but have seen that Buffalo Bore says it's ok to shoot their fodder in the Anaconda.
