Took an official police out to try some handloads. I first tried my standard 148 grain hollow base wadcutter loads (with 3 grains of red dot) I use these alot for practice. The gun shot a couple inches low and about 2" left at 15 yards. Because it had fixed sights I was irritated as I hate it when a fixed sight gun shoots to the left or right. I had shot it a few weeks ago and it was dead on but I shot jacketed bulklets then.
I tried my 158 grain hornady jacketed hollow points with 4.2 grains of bullseye and sure enough it shot no more than 1/2" to the left, and the heavier bullet brought it up.
For some reason in this gun the jacketed bullets do not shoot so far left.
I shot all 6 cylinders with both loads and the group size was similar.
You really have to try several loads to find the one that shoots best.
It is surprising that the wadcutters printed to the left.
Usually I have found that it doesnt matter much and a fixed sight gun that shoots left or right will typically continue to shoot that way no matter what bullet you use. Typically I can only raise or lower the point of impact by changing bullet weight.
In this case though, it did make a diifference.
