    Ingot Molds

I'm looking to start casting soon so I'm smelting wheel weights and found this ingot mold design at castboolits.gunloads.com. I found some scrap angle iron at work and as things were slow this afternoon I didn't waist any time.

I also made another video outlining my smelting process so far.

LOOKS fine to me. Did something along the same lines fourty years ago. I also found the the heavy duty elcheapo iron muffin pans worked great, and as we all know, a little muffin never hurt anyone.

Looks good!! Don't you love it when you can do stuff like that at work!! Years ago when I worked at the RailRoad as a machinist, if we had a personal project to work on, we'd say we were doing Government Work.
Have you started casting boolitts yet??

Nice job. However, I guess I am not as industrious as you. I went to WalMart, bought a mini-muffin pan with teflon lining and I am in business. The mini size fits into my Lee bottom pour melter just fine. and it was around $6.

I shot another video showing my first smelting attempt with my home made lead pot and my ingot molds. You can see at the end that I made a few mistakes.
