Suggestions for 10 mm range loads?

I just got some new Starline Brass so I can load some for my new Ultra Ten. I thought I had some .40 cal clad hardball, but I can't find it. I will order something this weekend but thought I should see if any of you had experience with range use 10mm hand loads.

I have a large supply of Bullseye, and that is what I will be loading with.

I found the following published loads:

    10 mm Load Data - Handloads.Com

170 gr HP over 5.6gr to start with 6.2 gr max.

180 gr JHP over 5.8gr to start with 6.4 gr max.

190 gr JFP over 5.7gr to start with 6.3 gr max.

200 gr FMJ over 4.8gr to start with 5.3 gr max.

I have been pleased with the Rainier clad bullets in .45 so I will probably go that route.

As of now, I am thinking of these:

Rainier LeadSafe Bullets 40 S&W, 10mm Auto (400 Diameter) 180 Grain Plated Round Nose Flat Point - MidwayUSA

I have no desire to beat up myself or the gun, but I don't want to have to swap out springs either. The double spring set up seems really strong compared to my .45 1911s.

I was thinking the 180 gr plated round nose flat point over 5.8 gr of the Bullseye may be a good starting spot.

What say you with 10mm hand loading experience?

I use Berry's bullets. Very happy with the 180 grain at 12.5 cents each shipped. I shoot the RS, but the HP are about the same price.

    40 caliber plated pistol bullets

I load with Longshot, as I have an 8 lb jug I bought for shotgun reloading. Got out of shotgun, using up the Longshot. My cousin really likes blue dot.
Long shot and blue dot are mentioned together a lot for 10mm loading.
I don't have any bullseye, and have never loaded with it.

Great cartridge to load. So damn expensive to buy at the store. 15 cent each I can shoot for hours and not feel broke!

Function with factory recoil set up was fine, but accuracy was really disappointing. Another trial batch of 50 bumped up to 6.1 grains in the range bag ready to go.

Well the 6.1 grains of bullseye punched a bit better, but still not what I think this gun should be able to do.

I have loaded 10mm for over 20 years, my range loads have always been cast bullets--175-180 gr.
The vast majority of these have been loaded over 5.5gr 231. Very mild and accurate in my DE and G20.

Ditto. Though of late I have used WST with lead and jacketed. Also, DE.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am confident that with the help of my always faithful grandson Trent- we will get this gun dialed in!

Trent is only six, and can he can already tell you EVERY component that makes up a round, can tell you if the primer is good or bad, can zero the balance and tell me if a throw is "close enough."

AND- he shoots a mean group with the 617 on a rest.

Our last outing he was shooting the Astra Camper for the first time, and steadily placing saucer sized groups at 3 paces!

I don't think it can be said enough, TEACH A YOUNGSTER THE SPORT!
