Question How many forum members reload?

I began reloading four or five years ago to ensure steady supply and save money on range use ammo. I have not done much shooting in the past 9 months or so and have recently picked back up, so I spent some time reloading yesterday.

I have noticed that the reloading section of the forum does not seem to generate a lot of activity, and was not sure if it was because we don't have a lot of hand loaders (re loaders), or maybe those of us that do don't discuss it much.

So - I am just trying to determine how many of us here reload.

Mitch and other admins- I considered the option of placing this in the reloading section of the forum, but I thought the lounge would be more appropriate as it is really a general discussion and not about the technical aspect of reloading, and I also wanted to see why non-re loaders have not gotten into it.

I started re-Loading shortly after I first got into Shooting regularly, which was in the mid 1980s.

I re-Loaded in order to have slightly downloaded Semi-Wadcutter and Wadcutter Ammunition for Paper Target events and competitions up to fifty yards.

Fast forward then, to a couple of years ago, if that, when, after a roughly 22 or 23 year hiatus, I got back into it, and, basically started from scratch as far as getting a Press, Powders/Propellents, dies, Molds, and so on.

What I like most about it now, is the versatility it permits.

I can Load Cartridges with Powders and Bullet types to combinations not available elsewhere, and for old Guns, this is especially nice.

I especially enjoy Black Powder Metallic Cartridge Loading for Revolvers.

For over 35 years I've reloaded for every rifle and pistol that I've owned that used center fire cartridges.

I have been reloading shotgun, rifle and pistol ammunition for the last 41 years, including a lot of obsolete cartridges. Great hobby.

I've been reloading for 25+ years. It is the only realistic way to shoot some of the guns I own. It is also the most cost effective way to shoot more. Pretty rewarding when you reload a rifle caliber and get a sub-MOA 100 yard groups from your reloads. For handguns I reload "blasting ammo." Quantity is more important than quality. Usually load large batches of handgun cartridges at a time. Done it all with a RCBS Rockchucker all these years. i would encourge anyone who enjoys the shooting sports to start reloading.

I have hand loaded my ammo for the better part of 35 years. Other than rimfire and shotgun, I handload and reload every caliber I shoot.

Cool topic. I'm a Rock Chucker kinda guy - Ha! My set up.

I reload and have for years. Got out of it at one time, and sold all my stuff then picked it up again. Now it's mostly 38's with some 9mm's once in a while.

I hear people all the time saying they don't have room to reload. You don't need a lot of room. Right now I use a Lee Hand Press and dies. I've got Lee scales and powder measure, but really could get by quite well with the little dipper that comes with a set of Lee dies. I'd just be more limited in powder selection. With a Lee Auto Primer and couple of other small hand tools I could fit it all into a shoe box and have room left over. Sure it's slower than a lot of other methods, but I'm in no hurry.

Shoot, I did thousands of 38's, back in the day, with nothing more than a Lee-Loader, and a plastic mallet

I inherited a Bisley Colt in 32-20 in 1956, I was 11, store bought ammunition, W-W or Remington-UMC was $5.30 for a 50 round box of 100 gr. JSP. Lotta money for an 11 year old farm kid in Montana living 14 miles from the store. Old Cowboy up the canyon had Colts and Winchesters and taught me to handload and cast for that Colt. Still got it and still do it for it!!!!!!

    I surely wish I did

I'm an idiot for not learning how to reload 20 years ago . If I were to start today I'd have to buy everything from the bottom up, read and learn and watch DVD's on the subject and then maybe I'd be dangerous enough to blow up the house.

Belonging to a private range I have an almost unlimited supply of brass that some of the younger members never pick up. Probably have 20+ lbs of 9mm, 45LC, .223, .357 and .38 Spcl brass I picked up 3 weeks ago when I went out to plink. Decided I'm going once a week and taking a cardboard box along just to see how much I can accumulate and then see who wants what. Once fired cause they do put the ammo boxes in the trash (mighty nice of em).

I reload for all my center-fire firearms. I'm reloading some 38 Special right now which is what I'm usually doing if I'm posting as the computer and the loading bench are in a little nook and I can turn in my old office swivel chair from the press to the keyboard.
